On November 10, 2024, we, the members of the American Afar Diaspora (AAD), met with the team from the education office and the university leadership to discuss the idea of sponsoring students for a talent academy. The AAD members took the idea seriously and expressed their readiness to take on this challenge, demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting the development of a talent academy and recognizing its potential to nurture the skills and capabilities of young students.
Taking part in the meeting were Dr. Mohammed Usman Darsa and members of his team, including Ali Zeynu, Habib Mohamed, the head of the education office Abdo Hassan, deputy education head Moussa Adem, and the head of the talent academy, Ahmed Hanfare Yassin.
Following this meeting, Hussien, who is currently in Ethiopia, engaged with educators and students to discuss further collaboration and next steps. These children are part of the talent academy for a reason; they are well-educated, driven individuals with immense potential. Their dedication and skills will not only make their parents proud but also uplift their communities and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the entire country. By investing in their growth and education, we are nurturing future leaders, innovators, and changemakers who will create a lasting impact on society.
